We've come a long way in 350 billion years. The last hundred or so are up for debate.

Happy Earth Day everybody! I don’t celebrate it myself, since it’s just a liberal conspiracy to get us thinking about things too large and scary to think about, but it’s a big enough event to warrant a special themed video.

This is one of my favorite Fatboy Slim videos (and tracks). It’s a brief history of the past 350 billion years, with a bit of commentary on the present state of society. Life pushes forward, doing whatever it takes to survive, until of course it discovers blogging. Intelligent designers will be interested to note that Norman Cook appears as the fast food worker.

The vocal sample is from the sci-fi movie “Strange Days”. It was one of the first samples I identified “in the wild”… sadly, no one was really impressed when I tried to explain how awesome it was that I discovered this fact on my own.

But the universe is only 13.75 billion years old, so the beginning of this awesome video is kinda stupid and misleading…
