Radiohead – Paranoid Android

I would be remiss if I did not mention Paranoid Android with this week’s theme. However, I wasn’t sure whether this met the EL test; I would call it “prog” myself. But this album in particular marked the start of Radiohead’s experimental phase, so MAYBE it would have fit. To avoid this lengthy justification text, I figured I’d just post it on Saturday, which has been declared a “non-canon” day for ELVAD (to be known as NELVAD).

In any case, what we have here is actually a funny track and a video done in good fun, despite the fact that Thom Yorke is incapable of doing anything but whining. Most Americans would not know that the characters were actually from a Swedish Adult-Swim-style cartoon. This does not help you understand what is going on.

What exactly IS going on? Don’t ask me, I remember watching this the very first time this video debuted on MTV 12 years ago, and I still don’t know.
