Not every zombie outbreak is worth making a fuss over.

Yesterday’s shadow-person somehow reminded me of Leftfield’s video featuring a man slowly crumbling away. Maybe it’s the fact that both are simultaneously recognized and ignored by the surrounding society, or the fact that by the end both of them are gone. Or maybe it’s because they’re both black?

In any case, this video is a masterpiece by one of the masters, Chris Cunningham. Amazingly, this is the first Cunningham video featured on ELVAD (or maybe not amazingly, considering his best work is also the most difficult to watch). There are those who may find this video a bit scary; by Cunningham standards, this is downright cheery.

Sadly, no one will help our neo-leper. Some even cause him harm without realizing it, or without caring. Only Afrika Bambaataa himself, reduced to working in a parking garage to make ends meet, will offer assistance (though not without a bit of mocking first).

As for the song, I’d consider it one of the first nu skool breaks tracks, which is quite natural considering the involvement of the old skool breaks/electro master Bambaataa.
