I vividly remember the first time I saw this video. It was spring of 1997 (March 28, based on episode lists, and I’m pretty sure this video was ripped from THAT VERY EPISODE). I was finishing off my final year of high school. It was Friday night, I was hanging out with some friends. I don’t recall my musical tastes, but I don’t think I’d yet heard of electronic music, let alone Amp.

The TV was on in the background, and naturally it was switched to MTV. As luck would have it, they aired an episode of Amp in prime time that week. It was pretty much ignored by everyone, as the videos were weird and the songs didn’t even have any lyrics.

But then this video appeared and pretty much changed my life (though I didn’t know it at the time). It was hypnotizing, I couldn’t look away. I called my friends over to watch, but they were pretty uninterested. I couldn’t believe I was the only one digging this video! The next video was equally enthralling to me. At the commercial the channel was changed, but I’d made a mental note to check out this “Amp” show.

To this day, I can’t really explain why this deep house track with a simple video grabbed me. I guess I was always a raver on the inside, I just needed a trigger, and it happened to be this video.
