As a rule, we abhor mashups at ELVAD. This is entirely inconsistent with our tastes in music (and musical production), and just the slightest bit hypocritical as well. It’s probably a product of being subject to tons of awful mashups throughout the years. Playing two songs on top of each other just isn’t something that works often.

There are some notable exceptions to this rule. Some songs have some sick beats but could stand a vocal sample to round it out. And some songs have great vocals with an otherwise boring background track. And sometimes, SOMETIMES, you can put these two kinds of tracks together and come up with gold.

That’s what happens here. A pretty tight Mason track gets a vocal overlay from Princess Superstar and you end up with a catchy bubblegum pop club song. Well played, producer-who-mixed-this.
