Not a whole lot of action in today’s video, which kind of stands in contrast with the song. For me, this track is all about bobbing your head at 140 beats per minute and being unable to stop yourself from dancing. So what’s with the camera panning slowly across a dark lake? Even Karl remains mostly stationary while he’s singing. Well, I assume he’s singing, since you can’t ever really see his mouth.

I think the idea was to create a sense of foreboding and menace. Then as you’re lulled into a trance, you start to see things like eyes floating in the clouds. This climaxes in, for some reason, a dude jumping through a pane of glass. Or perhaps ice, it looks pretty cold out on that water.

Still, the visuals are compelling enough for us to want to keep watching, just to see if we’ve missed anything.
