Why not start out the week with a Bollywood-style dance number? Basement Jaxx has a great track record with videos, and this one just oozes style. Directed by Andy Hutch (though credited to Nady Chuth, as pictured on the poster at the beginning), it captures the fun, the bright colors, the melodrama, and the grand settings of a good Bollywood film. Plus the choreography is most excellent.

Much of the Jaxx’s music (particularly the later albums) has a strong Indian influence. They’re the kind of group that has a “pornographic” signature sound–it’s hard to define, but you know it when you hear it.

This song, for me, will always remind me of summer. Maybe it’s the cheery vibe, maybe it’s the fact that the album (“Rooty”) was released in the summer of 2001. In any case, I hope it brightens your day!
