This is an interesting concept for a video. Air is a French band, of course, and this song is a very emotional love song. Director Mike Mills decided to interpret the song through the eyes of a southern California couple.

This is a very real couple, which is almost strange to see in a music video. Their bedrooms are filled with posters of Nine Inch Nails and the Beastie Boys. They bum around the skate park and hang out with friends. They sit around in crappy cars and say very honest things about each other. The video isn’t trying to be over the top, it’s just showing a genuine couple in love. It’s really striking how much that makes it stand out.

If for some reason you think these two are overly sappy, you might be pleased to know that they have since broken up! Love is great, isn’t it?
