We begin our retro journey in the year 1992, specifically on the streets of New York City. The vehicle for the journey is an old boombox; when Armand pops his retro track into the retro box, everything warps back to 1992. Hooray for high top fades! Much fun is had by all!
I actually think it’s a pretty clever way to do a retro vid, and the director has an obvious love of the NYC streets that makes everything seem pretty authentic.
Video trivia: some of that old school style in the video came courtesy of a rap outfit called Retro Kidz. I guess their style impressed Armand Van Helden enough for him to produce their debut single.
